KUGB schedules free black and brown belt course with Dan grading in Rhyl

KUGB schedules free black and brown belt course with Dan grading in Rhyl

Rhyl course offers a full training day before Dan examinations

The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) has scheduled a free Black and Brown Belt Course and Dan Grading for Sunday 25 October 2026 at Rhyl Leisure Centre, 86 Grange Road, Rhyl LL18 4BY. The official event page lists Sensei Billy Higgins and Sensei Frank Brennan as instructors. KUGB’s event page gives the venue and programme.

Brown-belt training is scheduled for 10.30am to noon, followed by black-belt training from noon to 1.30pm. The 1st and 2nd Dan grading is listed for 2.30pm, leaving a clear break between the training sessions and examinations.

KUGB says the training is free and encourages karateka from 3rd Kyu and above to attend, not only those taking a Dan grade. Participants must register through the KUGB app and bring a current KUGB licence. The published grading fees are £80 for 1st Dan, £90 for 2nd Dan and £60 for a kata-or-kumite-only retake.

The organiser also reminds candidates to complete the Dan Grading Form, obtain their instructor’s permission and present forms and licence books at least 30 minutes before grading. Prospective attendees should confirm the latest instructions in the KUGB app before travelling.
