KUGB Northern Region Championship set for Sunday in Sunderland

Sunderland hosts the KUGB’s next regional championship

The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) has scheduled its Northern Region Championship for Sunday 4 October 2026 at the CitySpace Building on Chester Road in Sunderland, SR1 3SD. The official event page says doors open at 09:30 and competition begins at 10:00, with the day listed through 17:00. KUGB event page

KUGB’s published notice highlights equipment requirements for Jiyu Kumite. Gumshields and KUGB-approved mitts are compulsory. It also states that females aged 12 and over must wear a chest guard, and males aged 12 and over must wear a groin guard, in Jiyu Ippon Kumite and Jiyu Kumite.

Those requirements are specific to the KUGB event notice and its competition context. They should not be treated as a universal equipment list for every UK club or federation; competitors should confirm the latest information with their instructor or the organiser before travelling.

The Sunderland championship is one of several KUGB activities listed for the first half of October, alongside KUGB Wales Squad Training on the same day. The separate events should be checked individually because they have different venues, audiences and schedules. KUGB events list
