MASSUK 2026 puts karate injury prevention and rehabilitation in the spotlight
A London medical symposium this October will bring karate coaches, athletes and health professionals together to examine how injuries can be prevented, assessed and managed across the sport.
MASSUK 2026 is scheduled for Saturday 17 October at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City. The organiser describes the one-day event as a multidisciplinary programme built around karate, with six CPD points applied for. It is aimed at clinicians, coaches and athletes who want sport-specific information rather than general martial-arts advice.
The published programme covers coaching methodology, ENT and facial injuries, lower-limb problems, hand, wrist and elbow injuries, shoulder issues, and head and spinal injury. It also includes athlete question-and-answer sessions and observation of a live karate training environment running alongside the symposium.
The timing is relevant for clubs planning autumn education. MASSUK says early-bird pricing ends on 2 October; the published ticket information lists £45 through that date and £65 from 3 October. The symposium and the separate karate training camp are booked independently.
The health message should remain practical and individual. NHS guidance lists martial arts among activities that can help young people develop strength and bones, while its adult guidance recommends regular moderate or vigorous activity. Anyone returning from injury or managing a health condition should take advice from an appropriate healthcare professional and adapt training to their circumstances.
