UK karate calendar moves from two major opens to London next

The UK competition calendar has reached a busy September stretch. Organiser pages list the 41st UK International Karate Open in Stourbridge and the Karate Scotland International Open in Motherwell on Sunday 20 September, followed by London Open 2026 on Sunday 27 September.

Two open events on 20 September

The 41st UK International Karate Open was scheduled for Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge. The English Karate Federation event page describes individual kata and kumite divisions, a published capacity of up to 650 competitors and officials led by Gary Hoyle. It does not publish a results list on the event page reviewed for this article.

The same day, the Karate Scotland International Open was scheduled at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell. Its organiser describes the event as an opportunity for developing athletes to gain competition experience and stresses sportsmanship for athletes, coaches and delegations.

London Open follows on 27 September

The EKF calendar lists London Open 2026 for 27 September at 170 Chingford Road, London E17 5AA. Entrants and spectators should use the organiser’s current page for registration instructions, timings and any venue changes.

What this means for clubs and families

  • Check the event organiser rather than relying on a social-media repost for entry deadlines or timetable changes.
  • Confirm whether a competition is open to your age, grade, style or federation before paying an entry fee.
  • Plan travel around registration and weigh-in instructions where the organiser publishes them.
  • Treat the published calendar as a snapshot: event details can change after the initial announcement.
