KUGB lists Special Dan Grade Course and grading for Reading on 10 October

Reading hosts the KUGB’s next Dan-focused training day
The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) has listed a Special Dan Grade Course and Dan Grading for Saturday 10 October 2026 at Rivermead Leisure Centre, Richfield Avenue, Reading RG1 8EQ. The official events page gives training from 11:00 to 13:00 and the grading from 14:00 onwards. KUGB events listing
The listing names Sensei Billy Higgins, Sensei Jim Brennan and Sensei Frank Brennan as instructors. It says the training is free, while the grading entry information is separate. The grading is listed for Sandan and above, so students should not read this event as an open grading opportunity for every belt level.
KUGB’s event notice places the training in the main sports hall and the grading in a studio upstairs. That split is useful for anyone planning travel and arrival, but the organiser’s current instructions should be treated as the final word on registration, grading fees, access and any changes to the day’s running order.
The Reading date sits alongside other KUGB courses in the October calendar, including a Northern Ireland kata and kumite course on 11 October and officials’ courses later in the month. Those events have different audiences and requirements, so karateka should check each individual listing rather than assuming that one course’s access rules apply across the KUGB programme.
