KUGB Black and Brown Belt course and Dan grading set for Sunderland

Sunderland course combines training and grading
The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) has listed a Black and Brown Belt Course and Dan Grading for Sunday 15 November 2026 at the CitySpace Building, Chester Road, Sunderland SR1 3SD. The federation’s event page gives the 11:00–17:00 schedule and venue; the official KUGB listing is the reference for updates.
KUGB lists Black and Brown Belt Training from 11:00 to 12:30, followed by grading for 1st and 2nd Dan at 13:30. The instructors are Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan) and Sensei Garry Harford (8th Dan). The course itself is listed as free, while Dan grading fees apply.
Eligibility and registration details
The event page says the course is not only for people taking their Dan grading and that karateka of 3rd Kyu and above should attend. Anyone training or grading must register through the KUGB app and bring a current KUGB licence. The page also says an instructor must complete the permission box on a grading form, with forms and licence books presented at least 30 minutes before grading.
KUGB lists grading fees of £80 for 1st Dan, £90 for 2nd Dan and £60 for a kata or kumite-only retake for 1st or 2nd Dan. Those fees and the federation’s protective-equipment and recording rules should be checked on the official page before attending, as the listing is the controlling source for the event.
