KUGB Black and Brown Belt course and grading set for Chelmsford

Chelmsford programme runs from training to Dan grading

The Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) has listed a Black and Brown Belt Course and Grading for Saturday 21 November 2026 at Mildmay Sports Hall, Alan Cherry Drive, Chelmsford CM1 1QT. The federation gives a 10:30–18:00 event window and asks visitors to use the venue postcode; the official KUGB event page is the source for current arrangements.

The published programme lists Brown Belt Training from 10:30 to 12:00, Black Belt Training from 12:00 to 13:30, and grading for 1st and 2nd Dan at 14:30. Sensei Jim Brennan (8th Dan) and Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan) are named as instructors. The course is listed as free, with Dan grading fees applying.

Registration and grading information

KUGB says karateka of 3rd Kyu are encouraged to attend and that everyone training or grading must register through the KUGB app and bring a current KUGB licence. Grading candidates must bring a completed form with their instructor’s permission, while forms and licence books are due at least 30 minutes before grading.

The event page lists Dan grading fees of £80 for 1st Dan, £90 for 2nd Dan and £60 for a kata- or kumite-only retake for 1st or 2nd Dan. It also sets out equipment and recording rules, so attendees should review the federation page before travelling rather than rely on a static summary.
